Like most gear items in the bass-fishing world, there are a lot of choices when it comes to selecting the right fishing line for your preferences.
There’s monofilament, fluorocarbon, braid, super braids lines and their varieties, and all have their place on your reel.
Mono, for instance, is stretchy and floats and is a good choice for buzzbaits and frogs. Fluoro is clearer than mono and sinks, and is great for clear-water applications. Braid is not visible, but its smaller diameter and no-stretch properties makes it great for power fishing, such as punching jigs through heavy vegetation.
In this episode of Beyond the Bait Powered by Streamlight — "All About Lines" Dr. Todd A. Kuhn goes deeper into the differences and best uses of fishing line for bass." Kuhn offers a history lesson on fishing line, too.
