Bass pro Ish Monroe is consistently in the money. He's placed in the Top 10 30 times in his career.

This is his favorite time of year to fish because he kills it frog-fishing. The Major League Fishing angler cut his teeth in the California Delta, where frogs in heavy mats are king.

Q: Now that it's the post-spawn, what is your go-to lure?

A: Topwater is my go-to in the post spawn. Frog, buzzbait, Whopper Plopper or River2Sea Rover will catch fish now.

Q: What do you expect to start with at June's Bassmaster Elite tournament at Lake Dardanelle, Arkansas?

A: Frog. I always reach for a frog when the water temp hits 56.

Q: What's a gear tip you can give me and our readers?

A: Fish braid for maximum hookups with topwater baits.

Q: What's the toughest part about catching this time of year?

A: The heat! But fishing first thing in the morning and again in the evenings will help that!
