Dr. Todd A. Kuhn
Dr. Todd Kuhn’s passion
for the outdoors began at a very early age. As a boy, he would travel every
summer from his family’s home in Florida to his grandparents’ rustic cabin at
the foot of the Adirondack Mountains in New York. There, his grandfather, an
avid outdoorsman himself, taught Kuhn how to fish for brook and rainbow trout.
When not fishing, Kuhn would roam the woods with his granddad, “hunting” bears
with a sharpened willow stick.
Since those early days afield, Kuhn’s love of the outdoors has
led him to locations around the world to fish for a wide variety of freshwater
and saltwater species, and in pursuit of numerous big-game species with a bow.
Kuhn, a graduate of the University of Central Florida, earned a
doctorate degree in environmental engineering and worked for 17 years in NASA’s
biomedical, life sciences and environmental fields at the Kennedy Space Center,
Stennis Space Center and Michoud Assembly Facility.
Kuhn parlayed his love for the outdoors and the strong
technical background he developed while working in the aerospace industry into
a career of writing about hunting and fishing, and the gear used in those
pursuits. He has served as an editor with Game & Fish since 2017 and
has conducted numerous gear evaluations, including the brand’s annual
comprehensive Tackle Test. He also hosts the popular “Beyond the Bait” video
Prior to joining Game & Fish, Kuhn served as bowhunting
editor at Outdoor Life for 13 years. During his tenure, he established in-depth
testing methodologies and protocols for a number of product categories.
