TenPoint Vapor RS470 XERO: First Crossbow with Rangefinding Scope

Partnered with Garmin's revolutionary Xero X1i scope, there's no other crossbow package like it.

TenPoint Vapor RS470 XERO: First Crossbow with Rangefinding Scope

TenPoint crossbows has announced the launch of what it calls the most powerful and most accurate long-range crossbow on the market -- the Vapor RS470 XERO, fitted with the new Garmin Xero X1i, the first crossbow scope with an integrated laser rangefinder.

The RS470 XERO delivers blazing arrow speeds up to 470 feet per second and the revolutionary Garmin Xero X1i provides exact aiming at any distance for unmatched long-range accuracy .

"The Vapor is the most accurate crossbow I have ever shot," TenPoint CEO Rick Bednar said in a news release. "In teaming with Garmin, it takes our commitment to building the most accurate crossbows to a new level of technological achievement."

The Garmin scope allows shooters to shoulder the crossbow, identify the target through the scope and receive ranging information at the touch of a button. The auto-ranging digital scope with 3.5X magnification automatically measures distance to a target. A single button press lets you range game up to 250 yards away and reflective targets up to 500 yards away.

"Garmin is proud to pioneer the best crossbow aiming solution available to hunters today. Xero X1i Crossbow Scope isn't a step forward; it is a leap forward for crossbow hunters who demand the most out of their hunting systems," said Dan Bartel, vice president of global consumer sales. "For those wanting the ultimate in crossbow performance, we are excited to work with TenPoint, the leader in crossbow technology, to provide an integrated Vapor RS470 Xero package."

With the Garmin scope, the days of "gap-shooting" with multiple aim points are gone -- you range your target by way of the built-in touchpad on the grip. Precise illuminated aim points automatically adjust for both distance and brightness conditions to allow you to see your target, unobstructed by reticle patterns.

Laser Locate waypoint projection works with compatible Garmin devices (sold separately) to show you exactly where the target was located when the shot or range was taken, so you can better track game or find bolts. In addition, the scope allows you to create custom bolt profiles with unique aim points for each setup, while its Target Lock and Steady Shot features assist with ranging and aiming performance to help improve accuracy.

RS470 XERO's ACUslide is the talk of the 2020 crossbow market, featuring the groundbreaking Auto-Brake Gear System, which allows for silent cocking, and safe and controlled de-cocking. The Auto-Brake Gear System eliminates the potential of losing control, which can lead to injury or costly bow damage during the de-cocking process. While de-cocking with the ACUslide, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any point, with no other action required, and the handle will stop in place. The 7-inch XTEND Adjustable Crank Handle reduces cocking effort to 5 pounds and stores securely into the butt-stock.

The Vapor features a patented reverse-draw bow assembly that draws the string through the riser, creating an industry leading 17-inch power stroke. The increased power stroke generates more speed with less draw weight, creating a smoother, quieter shot. The elongated power stroke also keeps the arrow nock engaged with the string for an additional 4 inches, compared to traditional crossbows, before release. This is a critical component in performance, as the longer the nock remains engaged with the string, the more accurate the shot. This center-mounted riser provides superior balance, eliminating the "nose heavy" feel of traditional crossbows.

The RX7-Cam system rotates an industry-leading 404 degrees to produce speeds up to an unprecedented 470 fps. Vector-Quad cable technology utilizes four cables instead of the traditional two, which eliminates cam lean and generates straight-nock travel leading to same-hole down-range accuracy.

The Vapor RS470 XERO features the company's S1 trigger, a two-stage, zero-creep design with an advanced roller-sear system that delivers a consistent crisp, 3.5-pound pull. The trigger is equipped with a DFI (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) and is fitted with a nylon-filament arrow retention brush that improves arrow grip and alignment. An integrated string stop system is also included to further reduce noise and vibration.

The crossbow has a 20-inch MICRO-TRAC fluted aluminum barrel to reduce the flight deck surface by 50 percent. The minimal string-to-barrel contact increases accuracy and provides string life in excess of 1,000 shots.

The barrel is fastened to the ultra-light, two-piece TEC-X stock that features multiple weight-reducing cutouts, as well as a hollow pocket that houses the ACUslide system. The stock also features an elevated cheek piece to provide the shooter with perfect eye level alignment for the XERO X1i Rangefinding Scope.

Weighing only 8 pounds, the crossbow measures 31 inches (w/o stirrup) in length.

Decorated in Veil Alpine camo, the Vapor RS470 XERO ships completely assembled, and includes:

  • ACUslide cocking and de-cocking system
  • Garmin XERO X1i Rangefinding Scope
  • TenPoint Narrow Soft Case
  • 6-pack of EVO-X Lighted CenterPunch Premium Carbon Crossbow Arrows (.001 straightness)

"Our new partnership with Garmin mates the worlds most advanced crossbow with the most advanced crossbow sight on the market, to produce the unquestioned most accurate long-range crossbow in the industry," CEO Rick Bednar said. "You've never seen a crossbow package like this before - and like our other ACUslide crossbows it offers silent cocking and safe de-cocking."

Meet the Garmin XERO X1i Auto-Ranging Digital Crossbow Scope

  • Automatically range game up to 250-yards away with the press of a single button.
  • Precise illuminated aim points automatically adjust for both distance and brightness allowing you to see your target, unobstructed by reticle patterns.
  • Forget the days of "gap-shooting" with multiple aim points -- after ranging and locking, the XERO X1i automatically accounts for arrow drop at your ranged distance and presents a single, precise aiming point.
  • Its Laser Locate waypoint projection feature works with compatible Garmin devices to show you exactly where your target was located when the shot or range was taken, allowing you to better track your game after the shot.
  • Steady Aim and Aim Point level lets you know how motion or canting may affect your shot's point of impact.
  • 3.5X magnification | Multi-Color Display | Custom arrow profiles for programming multiple arrow configurations | Integrated Mount | 1 Year Battery Life.

The Industry's FIRST SAFE Option to De-Cock a Crossbow

Forget holding buttons, using straps, and losing control while de-cocking. With TenPoint's ACUslide Cocking and De-Cocking System, simply backwind the handle, stopping at any point without fear of damage, injury, or losing control.

  • The ACUslide utilizes a heavy-duty, 1800-pound test nylon strap that requires no special maintenance and is durable enough for thousands of shots.
  • TenPoint's Engineers specifically designed the ACUslide to eliminate the potential of losing control during the de-cocking process which can lead to injury or costly bow damage. While de-cocking with the ACUslide, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any point, with no other action required, and the handle will stop in place.
  • The ACUslide boasts an INDUSTRY FIRST Trigger Lock-Latch that locks the trigger box in place after each time the string is cocked, removing tension from the cocking strap and ensuring the trigger box is locked in the same position before each shot. This locking trigger box design is more consistent than our competitor's movable trigger box, which does not lock into place, translating into 48% tighter down-field arrow groups.
  • The ACUslide works without the use of a locking pawl, allowing for TOTALLY SILENT cocking and de-cocking functionality.
  • The ACUslide cocking unit fits inside the body of the TEC-X stock, yielding a simple and streamlined design.

TenPoint's S1 Trigger

TenPoint's S1 Trigger design has zero trigger creep and is one of TenPoint's latest innovations directly inspired by customer feedback.

  • The S1 Trigger is exceptional, boasting a clean and crisp 3.5-pound trigger break with the advantage of an ultra-smooth 2-stage design, with ZERO CREEP in the second stage.
  • While the specific parts used to build the S1 trigger mechanism are proprietary, the secret to the low trigger pull-weight and ultra-smooth feel lie in TenPoint's advanced roller-sear design.
  • The S1 Trigger allows for the shooter to have greater trigger control, which translates into tighter groups and greater down-field accuracy.

Performance

The Vapor RS470 XERO's bow assembly was designed to be the ideal combination of maneuverability and performance.

  • Fueled by RX-7-Cams and SLING-SHOT technology, the reverse-draw bow assembly is the difference maker for the world's finest crossbow. The innovative cam system rotates an industry leading 404-degrees which powers the DUAL FLEX limbs, while the SLING-SHOT technology provides an extra turbo boost to produce speeds up to an unprecedented 470 FPS.
  • The bow assembly's revolutionary Vector Quad cable technology utilizes four cables instead of the traditional two which eliminates cam lean and generates straight nock travel, leading to same-hole down-range accuracy.
  • The lightweight aircraft-strength CNC machined aluminum riser is made from 7075-T6 alloy and features TenPoint's TRI-LOCK limb pocket system, which ensures perfect alignment between the pocket and limbs for further increased accuracy.
  • The Vapor RS470 XERO's bow assembly is mounted to TenPoint's 20-inch MICRO-TRAC fluted aluminum flight rail that reduces the flight deck surface area by an incredible 50%. The minimal string-to-barrel contact provides string life in excess of 1,000 shots.
  • The flight rail is fitted with TenPoint's S1 3.5-pound, 2-stage ZERO-CREEP trigger that delivers a crisp, consistent break. The trigger is fitted with a nylon-filament arrow retention brush that improves arrow grip, alignment, and reduces noise and vibration after the shot. The flight rail is also equipped with a string stop system, which yields even further noise and vibration reduction.

Reverse-Draw Bow Assembly

The reverse-draw bow assembly design of the Vapor RS470 XERO yields many advantages over traditional forward draw style crossbows.

  • By mounting the bow assembly to the stock in the reverse direction, the aluminum riser and limb pockets on the Vapor RS470 XERO are mounted mid-way down the stock instead of at the far end of the flight rail. This moves the center-of-gravity of the crossbow closer to the shooter's body and places most of the crossbow's weight behind the fore-grip support hand. This eliminates the front-heavy feeling of most crossbows and yields superior overall balance, making the Vapor RS470 XERO easy to shoot from an off-hand position.
  • By reversing the bow assembly and changing the riser mounting position, the string's resting position is extended a few inches farther down the flight rail. This increases the Vapor RS470 XERO's power stroke length by an additional 4-inches over traditional forward draw crossbows to an industry leading 17-inches and results in faster arrow speed when compared to an arrow shot from a forward draw crossbow with the same rail length. This power stroke advantage allows the Vapor RS470 XERO to remain compact yet still accurately perform at the highest level.
  • The Vapor RS470 XERO is more energy-efficient when compared to forward draw crossbows. Since the power stroke of a reverse-draw crossbow is longer than that of a forward draw, the required draw weight is lower, but the assembly still accelerates the arrow to a higher speed than that of a forward draw crossbow with the same draw weight and overall crossbow length.
  • Since the string and cables are mounted at a lower draw weight, generating less vibration after the shot, the result is an extremely quiet and smooth-shooting crossbow. Less vibration means less "muzzle-jump" which allows the shooter to follow through the shot more easily by maintaining the aiming point on the target after the arrow has been launched.

Maneuverability

The Vapor RS470 XERO is highly maneuverable in the field, whether transporting the crossbow to-the-woods-and-back or hunting from a treestand or ground blind with limited space.

  • The Vapor RS470 XERO weighs just 8-pounds, is a sleek 6.5-inches wide axle-to-axle when cocked and is only 31-inches long (without stirrup).
  • The TEC-X stock is made from a high-strength, low-weight, glass-filled polypropylene material which further helps to reduce the crossbow's weight and ensures years of durable use.

Consumer Appeal

All TenPoint crossbows have an impeccable fit and finish, from the CNC-machined aircraft-grade aluminum anodized parts to the camouflage decoration on the stock and limbs.

  • The Vapor RS470 XERO is available double-dip fluid-imaged in Veil Alpine camouflage.
  • The crossbow ships completely assembled and is offered in an extensive, Ready-To-Hunt package.
  • All TenPoint crossbows are BUILT IN AMERICA and have been engineered, assembled, and shipped from our Mogadore, Ohio location.

Safety

TenPoint considers shooter safety to be the highest priority in the design process, and our commitment to producing the SAFEST hunting crossbows in the world is highlighted by the many standard safety features that we offer on EVERY crossbow we build.

  • TenPoint's Patented DFI (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) prevents the crossbow from dry-firing if an arrow is not loaded onto the flight rail and the string is disengaged.
  • An auto-engaging safety mechanism automatically places the trigger mechanism in the SAFE position when the trigger mechanism is latched to the string, prior to cocking the crossbow.
  • The Vapor RS470 XERO is built with a fully integrated pass-through fore-grip which enables the shooter to position the fore-grip hand safely on the front of the crossbow, even when shooting from a bench or rested position.
  • Glass-Reinforced Nylon Safety Wings serve as a barrier to help keep the shooter's hand safely below the bowstring release path.

Complete Hunting Systems

TenPoint uses a "built from the ground-up" approach to designing the highest quality crossbows and accessories. The Vapor RS470 XERO crossbow includes several custom-designed accessories that have been specifically engineered to promote reliable operation, ease-of-use, and hunter success.

  • TenPoint's ACUslide cocking and de-cocking system allows all hunters, regardless of physical ability, to effortlessly draw the bowstring to cock the bow and allows for SAFE de-cocking without shooting an arrow. This high-quality, precision device is also designed to be reliable and consistent, resulting in extended string life and greater down-field accuracy.
  • The Garmin XERO X1i Rangefinding Scope is the first of its kind and allows for unprecedented aiming precision with one-touch laser rangefinding and automatic single dot drop compensation.
  • TenPoint's EVO-X CenterPunch Premium Carbon Crossbow Arrows are custom-designed from the shaft and insert materials, to the fletching and nocks to deliver match-grade down-range accuracy. These arrows are checked for shaft straightness to within .001-inch and weight-matched to within 1-grain to ensure the highest level of quality and accuracy. They include TenPoint's Alpha-Nock, specifically designed to be shot from ultra-narrow, high-performance crossbows.
  • TenPoint's Narrow Soft Case was designed to accommodate the Vapor RS470 XERO perfectly and offers a foam-padded interior with a hook and loop strap to secure the crossbow during travel, as well as one internal and two external zippered pockets for plenty of accessory storage.
  • TenPoint's EVO-X CenterPunch Broadheads have a rear-deploy blade design that virtually guarantees the blades will stay properly seated during the shot, especially when used in a high-performance crossbow like the Vapor RS470 XERO. This broadhead design also promotes consistent arrow flight, resulting in tight down-range groups.
  • TenPoint's Neoprene Sling features a non-slip design with an extra strong 1.25-inch adjustable shoulder strap and custom swivels.
  • TenPoint's Integrated String Stop System is built into the Vapor RS470 XERO's bow assembly.
  • TenPoint's 6-Arrow Tech Quiver is compact, ultralight, and designed to mount ambidextrously using a CNC-machined aluminum quiver mount.

The NEW TenPoint Vapor RS470 XERO crossbow model will begin shipping during the fourth quarter of 2020.
