Bainbridge, Ga. — Taurus USA made its big move to Georgia official with a grand-opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony, and the governor couldn’t be happier.
"I’m thrilled to welcome such a great company like Taurus to our Georgia-made family," Gov. Brian Kemp told a large crowd Thursday, Dec. 5 in front of Taurus’ new 200,000-square-foot facility. "The $20-plus million project represents a game-changing investment in Bainbridge and Decatur County."
Taurus’ new U.S. manufacturing facility and center of operations is expected to create 300 jobs in Bainbridge. The company said it outgrew its previous facility in the Miami area and needed to find a new location.

Taurus, manufacturer of premium handguns for defense, hunting, and sporting applications, moves to Bainbridge after four decades in Miami.

Bass fishing is great at Seminole, and some of the best quail hunting in the country is nearby. And, by the way, Bainbridge also is the hometown of University of Georgia football coach Kirby Smart , whose Bulldogs play for the SEC championship against LSU on Saturday, with the winner securing a spot in the National College Football Playoffs .

Kemp said the state has placed an emphasis on attracting companies to invest in all areas of the state, especially outside Atlanta, and it's working.
"All of our success has been possible by great companies like Taurus that are investing in Georgia," he told the crowd.

"It is the culmination of much hard work, intensive planning, and considerable investment in time and resources by many people—not only from Taurus, but also from the good people in the Bainbridge, Georgia area. We are looking forward to this transition and the exciting opportunities this move will offer Taurus and its employees as we settle in with our new friends, neighbors, and co-workers."
