TULSA, Okla. – Weather takes center stage this week as six Major League Fishing anglers try to advance from the last Sudden Death Round to the Championship Round of the Jack Link’s Major League Fishing 2013 GEICO Challenge Cup from Florida’s Lake Istokpoga. Episode Five begins airing tonight at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on Outdoor Channel, America’s Leader in Outdoor TV.
“This is something to see. Some of the best anglers in the world are fighting the elements, and I mean they’re fighting it.” said Major League Fishing Commissioner Don Rucks. “And, as always, they still figure out how to catch them.”
Kevin VanDam, Alton Jones, Edwin Evers, Boyd Duckett, Randy Howell and Brent Chapman compete during this second of two Sudden Death Round competition days. The field includes three former Bassmaster Classic champions and two B.A.S.S. Toyota anglers of the year.

The ferocious weather is courtesy of Hurricane Sandy, which on this day had moved parallel to Lake Istokpoga, bringing sustained winds of 30 miles per hour and gusts of more than 50.
“The weather got steadily worse as the day wore on. We were on the alert to actually pull the anglers in, but they fought through it,” Rucks said. “In fact, the big race was to see if the anglers could reach the cutline before they had to battle the worst of it, which came in the afternoon.”
Challenge Cup coverage will air six times per week on Outdoor Channel throughout the second quarter of 2013. For air times, please check HERE .
