Span The Globe on an Expedition With Mike Rogers
October 05, 2010
As host and executive producer of the Outdoor Channel hit show, SCI Expedition Safari Presented by MidwayUSA , Southern California native Mike Rogers brings to each episode a lifetime of experience across multiple fields of expertise. Rogers is a world-class hunter , an award-winning television producer, entrepreneur, and lifelong advocate for wildlife conservation and the rights of sportsmen through his close association with Safari Club International (SCI) . Rogers logs thousands upon thousands of frequent flier miles each year, spanning the globe to deliver 20+ original episodes every season; all of which contain the most stunning footage and big-game photography ever produced for an outdoor sports program.
In 2004, Safari Club International selected Mike Rogers as the host of its landmark series, Expedition Safari. Six years later, Rogers is now looking forward to another fantastic season of all-new globetrotting adventures starting in October 2010. With each action-packed high definition episode as evidence, his decades of experience in TV production, hunting, and familiarity with SCI’s goals serve him well as showrunner for the Outdoor Channel original production.
As to what the viewer can expect in the new season of SCI Expedition Safari Presented by MidwayUSA this year, Mike Rogers plans to top all previous seasons in drama, action and conservation stories from around the world. Filming for the San Diego native started in New Zealand with a disabled veteran on a stag hunt that changed both host and guest dramatically. Rogers recounts that the veteran’s conversion to an enthusiastic stag hunter with a new lease on life was dramatic.
From New Zealand, Rogers and the Expedition Safari crew travelled to South Africa for a multiple stop-sequence of adventures that included darting a black rhino - the most dangerous hunt in the world. Rogers recalls being “18 yards away from 2600 pounds of I'll-stomp-you-like-a-bug meanness, where only a little pink feathered dart came between me and him.” Does the dart work? Find out this season.

With the warmer climates out of the way, Expedition Safari then heads to the tundra of the Arctic circle to join a father-daughter team as they hunt muskox; a lifelong dream for one 16-year-old girl. Later on in the season, two unique physically challenged young boys will hunt in their home state of Pennsylvania for huge, monstrous white-tailed deer.
And how does Rogers plan to drive the series home in 2010? How about Expedition Safari adventures in Spain, Missouri and amazing partridge hunts you won’t want to miss. In addition to the hunting excitement, each episode also looks at the many facets of SCI's conservation programs and how hunters are protecting the freedom to hunt worldwide. It’s all this fall, only on Outdoor Channel, America's Leader in Outdoor TV.
