Directions:
In a large pot, bring 16 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat. (Note: If you don’t have a large enough pot, you can boil the water in two separate pots.) Tie tea bags together and add them to the hot water. (If using two pots, split the tea bags evenly between the pots.) Let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. Remove tea bags. Don’t steep your tea for too long (over 5 minutes) or it will have a bitter taste. Stir sugar into tea until it has completely dissolved. Pour tea mixture into a 2-gallon container . Add remaining 16 cups cold water; stir. Allow sweet tea to cool before pouring over ice. Garnish with a slice of lemon if desired.
