Ruger American Bolt-Action Rifle Adds 7mm PRC Chambering

The Ruger American is a proven platform. It’s been on the market for more than a decade. It's been chambered in a variety of cartridges, including the hot new 7mm PRC.

The American's Go Wild camo configuration, a long-action magnum version of the rifle, is now chambered in 7mm. In the video above, Matt Willson of Ruger highlights the features with Game & Fish's John Taranto at SHOT Show 2023 in Las Vegas.

"To get everything we can out of the 7 PRC, we fitted this with a 24-inch barrel," Willson said. "The Pepper Pot muzzle brake does a wonderful job of taming the recoil, but we've been really thrilled with how soft shooting the 7 PRC really is. So, while this is a light gun, just a hair over 7 pounds as it sit right now, it's perfectly pleasant to shoot. It balances well and we like it."
