Review of the Plano Guide Series Tackle Bag 3600

Plano just keeps rolling out the hits when it comes to their tackle bags. The Guide Series 3600 tackle bag is no exception. Plano’s offering of a mid-sized bag with ample storage space makes for a great bag on any kayak fishing excursion. The Guide Series has been Plano’s top-selling soft tackle bag since the original version was released a decade ago. The new 2017 model lineup includes the 3500, the tested 3600 and two 3700 models.

The Guide Series 3600 tackle bag has become part of my go-to fishing equipment. I like to take a minimalist approach to fishing. When I look for a bag, I look for it to have sufficient storage space while still being compact enough to fit on my kayak. The 3600 is the best of both worlds while still including a few features that would make any angler happy.

Starting on the top, the bag features a Topside Utili-Tackle Rail System which holds a 3600 box for quick and easy access. The bag's rail system has 34 accessory attachment ports for holding lures, tools and keys. The bag's rail system is dual level and has elevated rubber feet to keep the bottom dry, which is especially nice when fishing from a kayak. Zippers have nice nylon pulls which move smoothly when opening. The bag's large exterior pockets include d-rings and mesh pockets for easy access to your gear. By providing external clips, the bag allows you to customize your setup by what external tools you may attach to it.

Overall, this mid-size tackle bag holds more than it looks like it can hold and is easy to handle on a kayak. The bag’s side rings and elevated bottom allows me to feel confident in the security of my gear when fishing from a kayak. Its smooth zippers and organized containers allow the angler to spend less time messing with gear and more time fishing. I would recommend this pack to anyone that is looking for a minimalist tackle bag to accompany them on a kayak.
