What's Your Line? New Fishing Line from ICAST 2021

Take your pick from these brand-new mono, fluorocarbon and braided lines.

In some anglers' minds, there's nothing more important in catching a trophy fish than fishing with the right line, whether it be monofilament, braided or fluorocarbon.

All have their place in your gear bag, depending on fishing style and targeted species. Braid for sensitivity, fluorocarbon for invisibility and mono for stretch on hook-sets and overall bouyancy. Combine them in a main line/leader rig to maximize the properties.

But any fishing line that can't boast of castability, knot strength and abrasion resistance is probably going to let you down when that big bass comes tugging on your rig.

Fortunately for modern anglers, fishing lines get better every year as super-line technology offers superior features compared to lines made just a decade ago.

The hot new fishing lines below were all featured at ICAST 2021 this summer in Orlando, where Game & Fish editors got a closer look at what's new.

P-Line Spin-X Braid is the first spinning reel-specific braided line on the market. Featuring a color change from hi-vis blue to vi-vis orange every meter, it is visible in all weather conditions, making it easier to detect the slightest strike. Available in 8-, 12-, 16-, 20- and 24-pound test in 150-yard spools. ($17.99; p-line.com)
