TULSA, Okla. – Major League Fishing is back on the air. Fans of the production will have the opportunity this week to tune in to Outdoor Channel, America’s Leader in Outdoor TV, to see not just one, but two new, original Major League Fishing series.
The Major League Fishing GEICO Selects begin airing on Thursday (New Year’s Day) at 8 p.m. (ET) with action from the series’ first event: the Bass Pro Shops Summit Select, a competition that was filmed on lakes around Muskogee, Oklahoma. The GEICO Selects’ hour-long shows will, in addition to the regular Thursday 8 p.m. airing, also appear three more times each week: Sundays at 7 a.m., Tuesdays at 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. (All times are ET.)
Jack Link’s Major League Fishing – the original MLF production, also known as the Cup Series – debuts its expanded, two-hour television event on Saturday, January 3, at 2 p.m. The General Tire Summit Cup, filmed on lakes in the Waterville, Maine region, will be shown three times each week. In addition to the Saturday afternoon airing, the competition will be shown beginning on Sunday’s at 4 p.m. and Thursdays at 10 a.m.

“When you do the math, that’s 10 hours of Major League Fishing each week on Outdoor Channel,” Wilburn said. “I think people will enjoy every minute.”
Major League Fishing is an equally owned partnership between a group of competition anglers and Outdoor Channel. All Major League Fishing events feature anglers competing in boats with live leaderboards. Anglers are allowed to catch and record as many “scorable bass” as they can. All bass are weighed and recorded, then they are immediately released back into the water.
Anglers not only do not have practice days prior to Major League Fishing events, the competition bodies of water are not disclosed until the anglers pull into their boat launch areas.
