Flaky and flavorful, you can't go wrong with a basic fried fish fillet


  • 2 lbs. fish fillets
  • 2 Tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • Salt, pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup peanut oil


Mix cornmeal and flour together. Rub fish fillets all over with salt, pepper, and hot sauce. Roll fish fillets in the flour and cornmeal mixture.

Heat oil in skillet until very hot, about 370 degrees. Brown fillets for about 2 minutes on each side. Reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for about 4 to 6 minutes longer, depending on thickness of fish.

Fish should flake easily with a fork when done.
