With so many species to target and so many waters to explore, the following month-to-month guide will put you on the trail of outstanding California fishing in 2014!

Here's a sample of some great destinations to help you plan your next fishing trip and be sure to check out the solunar fishing calendar on In-Fisherman!

Let's take a look at the options available for February Bass Fishing in California.

FEBRUARY

Lake Amador

Rainbow Trout

Planted heavily with hybrid rainbow trout, Lake Amador is one of the north state's premier trout destinations during the winter months. The average trout at the lake runs 3 pounds and double-digit fish are common.

Bank anglers hook up at Amador using standard dough baits and salmon eggs. Small baits presented close to the bank are generally the ticket, but at times tossing lures and flies can be super-productive.

Boater troll for Amador's trout using small Rapalas, grubs, flies and threaded nightcrawlers.

For a real change of pace, you might consider a trip up Highway 88 for a day of ice-fishing at Caples Lake. Mackinaw are the most common catch, but rainbows and browns are on the menu too.
