If you’re into chasing big tom turkeys in the spring, as many of our Outdoor Channel stars do, keep in mind older turkeys tend to be less tender than younger birds. While the breasts may be just fine, the legs and thighs are usually tough and sinewy. But that doesn’t mean throw them away; there is so much meat on a turkey’s legs, even on wild turkeys, that it’s wasteful to do so.


One good way to utilize these parts is by grinding them. From there, you can do just about anything. Make your favorite ground beef recipes leaner and healthier by using ground wild turkey instead.

This pizza recipe combines two of the most popular game meats, turkey and venison, to bring you a cheesy, saucy and delicious meal.

Ingredients:

  • ½ pound ground wild turkey
  • 1 slice venison bacon, chopped
  • ½ cup red peppers, chopped
  • ½ cup sliced mushrooms
  • Prepared pizza crust, homemade or store bought
  • ⅓ cup pizza sauce
  • ½ cup shredded cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons coconut oil

  • ½ pound wild ground turkey
  • ½ cup water, separated
  • 4 slices white bread
  • Butter
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup pimiento
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup sliced mushrooms
  • ¼ cup red bell pepper, chopped
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cracked pepper
  • ½ cup shredded cheese

Ingredients:

  • 4 wild turkey tenders
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon minced onion
  • 4 cups water
  • 3 cups rotini pasta noodles
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup frozen corn
  • Half package ranch powder
  • ⅓ cup of milk
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ pound ground wild turkey
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cracked pepper
  • ½ cup water, separated
