Capture 'Yak Fishing Moments

Having recently began kayaking and kayak fishing late last year, one of the things I enjoy doing is filming my outings. I wanted to find a quality boom that had the flexibility and quality, not just a straight up boom. With that said, I came across the Railblaza Camera Boom 600 Pro Series.
The 600 Pro Series has five adjustment axes … the fifth is for horizon correction, meaning if you mount your boom on a sloped surface, you can still maintain a level horizon by utilizing this axis. It is held in and supported by a RailBlaza StarPort (which is a very popular multifunction mount), SidePort, RIBPort or the RailMount.

All the joints on the Pro 600 that rely on friction to hold are factory set and sealed so there is never a need to retighten. Referred to as the “top platform,” essentially is the platform where you mount your camera of choice. It’s removable and there are two choices, the swivel and the 3-axis.

The 3-axis is the one I use; it gives more flexibility. You can remove the platform and mount by itself for lower profile shots, if needed. You can even remove the platform and purchase other mounting accessories. The black anodized finish takes away any reflection or glare while filming that may interfere with your activity. On their website, they mention it even causes the boom to fade into the background. I have to say it really does and you forget it’s there.

My experience with the RailBlaza camera boom has been nothing short of excellent. I have had it now for seven months or so and have used it a half dozen times or so. Once mounted, it has stayed right where I have put it and not moved. The RailBlaza StarPort mount has been a well-trusted mounting system on my ‘yak and will be moving forward.
