Black Buck Curry Back Strap Using The Can Cooker (Recipe)

  • 2 lbs Back strap cut in to 1 inch chunks
  • 6 potatoes chopped in small chunks
  • 1 large white onion chopped in long slices
  • 4 large carrots chopped in circular pieces
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 4 oz olive oil
  • 2 12 oz jars red or yellow curry sauce
  • 2 cups water


  1. Heat skillet to high temp and add olive oil

  2. Toss chunks of meat with salt and pepper and braise until nice crust forms on all edges and remove from heat source

  3. Heat can cooker over medium fire and add 2 cups water

  4. Add vegetables, curry sauce and place lid on Can Cooker

  5. Allow to cook for 20 minutes

  6. Remove lid and add Black Buck chunks to Can Cooker

  7. Replace lid and let it cook for an additional 5 minutes

  8. Remove lid and pour meal into large bowl

  9. Plate and serve!
