Best Ways For Fisherman To Prevent Skin Cancer

Best Ways For Fisherman To Prevent Skin Cancer

Protecting ourselves from the sun is on every outdoorsman's radar screen today, as well it should be. The myths surrounding skin cancer are scary and the statistics showing the rise in melanomal (skin) cancer are even more frightening:

  • One person dies from melanoma every 57 minutes
  • In the last 30 years, more people have died from skin cancer than all the other cancers combined

The good news is that by using high-SPF sunscreen, keeping your head and hands protected, wearing the right UV-protected clothing and taking care to get off the water during those high-exposure, midday hours, skin cancer is very preventable.
