If you don’t have good ammunition it’s hard to knock down deer and other big game. You don’t have to have the most expensive ammo, but if you’re not shooting the best deer hunting ammunition for your rifle or situation then you’ll be behind the curve.
The annual SHOT Show in Las Vegas is when the hunting and shooting industry takes the spotlight. Here is some of the best new ammunition for 2022 for deer hunting.

Winchester Copper Impact Winchester Copper Impact Winchester launches its Copper Impact rifle line with popular calibers in different weights for deer and other big game. Copper Impact rifle bullets are engineered with longer ogives and boattails, providing higher ballistic coefficients that help improve accuracy at longer distances. Copper Impact bullets are a solid-copper Extreme Point hollow-point polymer tips. Weight is retained thanks to the monolithic design, and copper is welcome in states or other areas where non-toxic options are required. They’re available in more than a dozen options in 14 popular centerfire calibers and shotgun slugs in 12- and 20-gauge.

Remington Core-Lokt Tipped Remington Core-Lokt Tipped
Remington took a chance tinkering with its legendary Core-Lokt ammunition, but have no fear. The new Core-Lokt Tipped is just as reliable and lethal as its predecessor. The new rounds were tested extensively before being released in late 2021 and reviews were favorable. Sure, some traditionalists will ignore the polymer-tipped models but now both are offered and it’s not bad to have more options. Core-Lokt Tipped will be available in 13 popular calibers between .243 Win to 300 WSM.

Hornady CX bullets are available in 16 calibers. Hornady’s new CX bullet — Copper alloy eXpanding — is a one-piece all-copper bullet that won’t separate upon impact. Hornady claims it retains 95 percent of its weight after penetration, and is optimized for extended range and accuracy. The CX has a Heat Shield Tip of heat-resistant polymer the company says “provides a consistently high BC for the bullet's entire flight path.” It is available in 16 calibers from .243 to .375, including four sizes in .308 – 110-grain, 165, 180 and 190. It is available in Hornady’s Custom and Outfitter rifle ammunition lines, too, replacing the GMX bullet in both lines.

Hornady .350 Legend Hornady Subsonic family of ammo. In states requiring straight-wall rifle cartridges for deer or other game, hunters may want to take a look at the Hornady Subsonic 350 Legend. This cartridge features a 250-grain Sub-X lead core hollow-point bullet with Hornady’s Flex Tip insert. This tip insert ensures expansion at subsonic speeds.
