Bear Meatloaf Recipe

Change up this old favorite by using bear hamburger along with ground pork in this meatloaf recipe from Rick Browne

Bear is very lean and a great edition to your dinner table. The BBQ is a great place to cook this Bear Meatloaf Recipe. Watch Rick Brown cook this recipe in the video and then make your own using the recipe below!

Serves: 4-6
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 1 hour


  • 1 1/2 pounds bear hamburger
  • 1/4 pound ground pork
  • 1/4 cup chopped raw bacon
  • 1/2 cup red pepper
  • Minced 1/2 cup onion
  • Chopped 1/2 cup carrots
  • Chopped 1 teaspoon marjoram
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • Salt and pepper, to taste


  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix all ingredients.
  2. Form the bear-pork mixture into a sprayed or oiled meatloaf pan.
  3. Bake at 350°F in a barbecue, over indirect heat, for about 1 hour or until meat is firm and reaches an internal temperature of 150° degrees. 
  4. Let bear meatloaf rest 10 minutes, then slice and serve.
