Abu Garcia went light with its Zenon series of rods and reels. The company calls the Abu Garcia Zenon spinning reel is "lightest spinning reel ever," and the new Zenon rods, "the lightest and most sensitive rods the company has ever made."
That rang clear at ICAST 2021 in Orlando, where the Zenon gear was introduced this summer. The Zenon rod line, which includes four casting and three spinning models, was named Best-of-Category/Freshwater Rods at the huge fishing tackle show. Additionally, the Zenon reel was named Editor's Choice for spinning reels in Game & Fish's 2021 Tackle Test this spring.
The new spinning reel, with an asymmetric magnesium body, weighs just 4.9 ounces (Size 20).n The Size 30 reel weighs only 5.4 ounces.
Zenon rods, weighing 3.3 to 4.9 ounces among the seven models, all feature premium carbon blanks and the company’s exclusive Powerlux 1000 resin system.
