CZ-USA's new 1012 shotgun requires minimal maintenance.

Do-It-All Workhorse Shotgun Keeps Going

Whether you are an upland or waterfowl hunter, or just like to break a few clays on the weekends, the new CZ 1012 shotgun might be a fit. And, with its gas-less operating system, it’s a workhorse that keeps running with little maintenance.

The CZ 1012 represents the newest edition to CZ-USA's semi-auto shotgun line; featuring a gas-less spring bolt operating system.

From a company news release:

Instead of redirecting gas from the barrel to run the action, the 1012 uses a spring within the bolt to store energy during the shotgun's recoil and expends this energy a split second later to rotate and unlock the twin lug bolt head from the barrel extension to withdraw the spent shell.

The major advantage of this gas-less system is a much less stringent maintenance schedule, unlike gas guns, which require periodic cleaning of the piston and magazine tube.

During extensive testing of this system by CZ engineers and designers, 5,000 shells were fired through several CZ 1012's, without a drop of oil or cleaning of any sort being done. Results? Zero parts breakage or malfunctions. Try that with your standard gas-operated shotgun.

The manufacturer says occasional cleaning and oiling is about the only maintenance hunters need to perform.

The gas-less system is tuned to run a wider variety of shells found on the U.S. market, from light-recoiling target loads up to super-hot 3-inch magnum loads. You can break clays using target loads one day and turn around the next day for some goose hunting.

The CZ 1012 also features a 28-inch barrel and has optional furniture, which can be shimmied for the perfect fit, shooters can choose from a finely checkered buttstock and forend made from Turkish walnut or a rugged polymer set. The cross-bolt safety is located at the front of the trigger guard making it equally as easy to operate for left-handed shooters. The ample trigger guard allows for gloved fingers, and the shotgun holds 4+1 shells. Each CZ 1012 comes with five extra-long extended chokes to fit any shooting need, and the gun is available with a black, bronze or gray receiver or a full camo option is available too.
