Your first baitcaster

Your first baitcaster

There comes a time when you want to improve your skills as a fisherman and get into something a little more advanced. That step pretty much requires a baitcaster reel. They are very versatile and, once you master them, will help you present your lure in many different ways. But how do you pick your first one?

Talking to your friends can be helpful but remember they might have been using the same reel for a very long time and might even be using it wrong. One of the most common practices with baitcasters is to turn the break way up so as to avoid the dreaded backlash. But by doing that you are defeating the purpose of using this type of reel.
