World Fishing Network, the leading entertainment destination and digital resource for anglers throughout North America, premieres Season Two of its signature magazine format show, World Fishing Journal, with an all-star episode on Sunday, Sep. 7 starting at 11:30 a.m. ET.World Fishing Journal brings together a roster of talented sports producers to craft engaging, story-driven features based around the angling community and fishing industry on a monthly basis. The first episode of Season Two delivers:
Willie Mitchell, Part I: NHL defenseman Willie Mitchell, now with the Florida Panthers, hoisted the Stanley Cup for the second time as a member of the Los Angeles Kings last spring. World Fishing Journal joins Willie as he brings the Stanley Cup back to British Columbia and takes you fishing off his hometown of Port McNeill. An avid angler and philanthropist, Willie talks about the devastating impact of high density open net-cage salmon farms that populate the critical migratory routes within the Broughton Archipelago.
Mike Pyle, Part I: Join UFC welterweight fighter Mike ‘Quicksand’ Pyle and friends as they take in the Provo River in Utah for some fly fishing. Can a fierce fighter like Mike unwind on the water or will his competitive streak get the best of him in his battle against his buddies to see who can catch the most fish? Discover how Mike’s passion for family, fighting and fishing provides the balance for his goal to be a champion in the ring and in life as part of this must-see segment.
Vermont Free Fishing Day: It’s not easy for the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department to get the word out about the great fishing available on Lake Champlain when you’re competing against Champ – the mythological lake monster that many folks think about when it comes to this big lake located in the northern part of the state. So in order to generate awareness for all the angling opportunities that Lake Champlain offers, the Vermont FWD offers a Free Fishing Day each summer as part of Vermont Days that allows kids to fish without a license. World Fishing Journal finds out if this year’s Free Fishing Day, held on June 14, met expectations and if Vermont’s fabled lake-dweller happened to make a surprise appearance.
Season Two, Episode 2 of World Fishing Journal will air Sunday, Oct. 7 starting at 11:30 a.m. ET and includes Part II on Stanley Cup Champion Willie Mitchell and UFC welterweight fighter Mike ‘Quicksand’ Pyle, plus we’re an invited guest at one of the more unique wedding celebrations you’ll ever attend.
