”It’s been a grind," FluxJet Kayaks CEO Jason Woods said in describing his company’s rise to the Best of Show award at ICAST 2025 in Orlando. “But I’ve been overwhelmed by people just coming up, with so much praise. It makes all the years (10) of grinding on this thing worthwhile. This is beyond anything I could imagine."

Texas-based FluxJet, in its first ICAST, won the prestigious award for its innovative new product, the word’s first electric jet-powered kayak that beat 40 other finalists to win the hardware. The craft implements a flush-mounted, fully integrated jet-drive system for smooth—and silent— on-the-water performance that easily glides in shallow water and over cover. Plug in a marine battery (it accepts 12-, 24-, 36-, 48- or 60-volt power sources) and go.

The kayak has an MSRP of $2,749.99. It should be ready for shipping next year.

Woods, with 20 years experience in marine propulsion, said the idea was to build a craft that would revolutionize kayaking, but also be as simple as possible.

It’s clear that Best of Show voters liked what they saw.

“My biggest fear coming into this thing was that we made it so stealthy and so clean that people would just walk right by it and not even notice any of the technology that we built into this thing, or what it actually does. Because you didn’t get to see it working; it’s just sitting on a table," Woods said. "It’s really amazing that people got it. They took one look at it and went 'OK, that’s pretty cool.' To win in this group of products out here is overwhelming, it’s amazing."

So, what’s next for FluxJet?

“I’m not sure,” Woods said. "I think we're making a lot of good friends. It’s so amazing now to be in this industry, making new contacts. And I think this is going to help propel us, put us out in front, so we can start to make some new contacts, and get some distribution, and scale from there."
