Whitetail deer are the most widely hunted game animal in the country. Each year hunters kick off the season with lofty expectations of tagging a Boone and Crockett bruiser, however success will come down to preparation, skill and planning. This week our panel of whitetail pros are here to help. Standing by will be: Chris Brackett host of Fear No Evil, Kandi Kisky of Whitetail Freaks and Jeff Lindsey of The Lindsey Way. They’ll be handing out tips on fall food plots, trail camera usage, essential archery gear, strategic stand placement and formulating a winning strategy for filling your freezer this fall. Tune in for Whitetails 101 this week on The Revolution, presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, World Fishing Network and MyOutdoorTV.
Chris Brackett is the dynamic host of Fear No Evil on Outdoor Channel. Tune in to The Revolution this week as Chris takes over with a three-part interview focusing on all things whitetail. He pulls no punches, when hitting the woods in the fall his mission is to kill and recover. In order to make that happen, there are multiple factors in play. Listen in as Chris talks scent control and playing the wind, formulating a plan for hunting your property and getting in and out without disturbing the resident deer. He’ll discuss pinch points and the value of placing water sources close to your food plots for strategic ambushes. “The topography of the state or the area you hunt dictates how you hunt it,” says Chris. Find out why learning the lay of your land is crucial to your hunting strategy. Viewers see Chris chasing monster whitetails regularly on Fear No Evil, however he knows it isn’t possible for everyone and says that hunting is all about priorities. He encourages other hunters to decide whether they are after big racks and age class, or if they are in it for fun and the possibility of tagging a nice buck. Finally, Chris talks shot placement as well as his newest endeavor, pro archery and tournament shooting and what the pro circuit has taught him. Don’t miss the Chris Brackett take over this week on The Revolution.
Deer hunting seasons are right around the corner and Kandi Kisky, of Whitetail Freaks seen on Outdoor Channel, is getting ready. Tune in to The Revolution this week as Kandi joins Jim & Trav and talks about her favorite gear that she’ll be relying on this fall for upcoming hunts – like their whitetail hunt in Alberta and an elk hunt in New Mexico. Managing, growing and harvesting massive whitetails each and every year takes a lot of effort. Kandi says now is the time where trail cameras really get a workout on their property. With 20 to 30 cameras in the field, Kandi says it’s a full-time job, but the cameras provide a lot of insight for the fall hunting seasons. Tune in for more from Kandi Kisky and a look at this season of Whitetail Freaks.
Food plots can be a game changer for hunters looking to draw deer to their property and keep them there year-round. With the right combination of crops, you can provide nutrition and condition deer to keep coming back for more. This means planting spring and fall plots so there is something available, 365 days a year, for them to forage on. Tune in to The Revolution as Jeff Lindsey, with The Lindsey Way on Sportsman Channel, talks food plots, spring versus fall plots, what crops you should have available year-round, as well as food plot equipment. He’ll also discuss the difference between kill plots and destination plots and the importance of each.
