WFN Tattoo: Jamie Brag, Ambassador
WFN Ambassador Jamie Bragg has a tattoo that might be considered a bit extreme to even the most enthusiastic of anglers. Tattoos are permanent, and fishing themed tattoos aren't very common. That's why when WFN heard about an Ambassador getting a tattoo inspired by the WFN logo, we sent a crew to film it and get the full story behind the tattoo.Jamie has been fishing since he was 6 years old, but wasn't always as passionate about it as he is now. His passion for angling started after a terrible car accident, in which Jamie was a passenger in a car that rolled eight times. The seat belt holding Jamie came undone during the roll, and he was thrown from the car. He had extensive injuries that limited his mobility and caused severe pain. While resting and recovering from his injuries, Jamie started watching WFN on a regular basis. It renewed his interest in the sport, and took his mind off the injuries. It was enough to eventually persuade Jamie to get out on the water and start fishing again."Fishing has helped me deal with my injuries by masking the pain and taking my mind off my injuries," Jamie explains. "I could be in the worst pain you could imagine, but the moment I know I am going fishing my mind goes elsewhere. It's like an inner strength turns on and instead of thinking how I am going to fight the pain I start thinking of the fight with the fish I am going to have that day. For some fishing is a hobby, for others a passion, for me it is a life line. Without fishing I would probably be laid up in a hospital bed feeling sorry for myself."Fishing gave Jamie the drive and passion to get up and take charge of his life again after the debilitating accident. The tattoo serves as a reminder of the effect that fishing has had on his life."I got the WFN tattoo to not only show my devotion to WFN and fishing, but to also have a life time reminder of what it was that inspired me to grab my fishing rod and go fishing instead of sitting around waiting for doctors to come up with answers and surgery dates. It's fishing that gives me the strength to carry on fighting and keep going."Jamie was contacted by a tackle company a week after getting the tattoo and was asked to join their pro staff. Since then, he has received several more sponsorship offers."It has helped me get one step closer to my goal of becoming a pro angler and not only fishing some pro tournaments, but winning these tournaments and hopefully inspiring someone else out there who has had to deal with a similar situation as me, and letting people know that no matter what life throws at you there is nothing you can't accomplish if you put your heart into it and work hard at it."Jamie's favorite shows on WFN include Facts of Fishing THE SHOW
and Hookin' Up with Mariko Izumi
because it's the only show that his wife will sit and watch with him.
