Weekend Angler Locks Up ABA Tourney on Maumelle

The ABA's Division 47 - Arkansas held its first qualifying tournament of the 2012 season on Lake Maumelle on October 1. The weather was great with morning temperatures in the 50s giving way to sunny temperatures in the high 70s. 33 anglers weighed in 108 fish with a total weight of 133.67 lbs.
Terry Cordum from Van Buren, Arkansas locked up first place and took home $815.00 with 5 bass totalling 8.12 lbs and a big bass that weighed 3.83 lbs. Terry's go-to technique of the day was throwing soft plastic baits in shallow water around grass.
Second place went to Doug Thompson of Mablevale, Arkansas with a total weight of 7.50 lbs. Hoyt Akins of Mayflower, Arkansas earned third place with 7.26 lbs.
These anglers are acquiring valuable points to ensure their berth in the division?s two-day championship and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall. Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.
The next divisional tournament will be held on November 19 on the Arkansas River.
