Tournaments, and events

Well, the Birmingham Boat show was a couple of weeks ago, but decided to continue deer hunting instead.  There are many, many local and regional tournaments set for our area lakes, but I don't have time to pre-fish for these and maintain an attitude that my contest is with the fish I try to catch.

When I was in the fishing tackle retail scene, I used to participate in various tournaments to promote our name. Since then, my father died and don't feel the urge to compete with others.  My methods for catching fish go against many tournament rules anyway.  I like to troll, which is a no-no on the trails. Trolling gives me the enjoyment of catching many different species of fish.  Many a time I heard that my customers wouldn't be buried in the same cemetery as a crappie angler, this is hogwash.  Various specie angling is for the enjoyment of the sport....getting away from work, traffic, noise...whether it be in a creek fly fishing for bream or trout.....or tying off on a stump to catch a mess of catfish.

If the boat show HAD been after deer season was finished, then I would have attended.

I do plan to attend the various opens in Alabama as a spectator, as I like to visit these areas, fish these ares and see the fish that can come from them.
