Video: The Unexpected at 10:23:25
Here we go, the wife says Saturday that I might as well go fishing since Sunday is Fathers day and she wants to clean up the house before the kids come. Now I wanted to help her out but when they say go fish, we go fish!
So I headed out to my favourite river and start fishing, now I believe in timing, you got to be in the right spot at the right time. I was late getting away, stop for a yard sale (you never know what fishing item might be there) and got bait and gas. Time did not matter to me; she said take your time and I was.But at 10:23:25
time matter, that was when the big boy hit my spinner. I was fishing at a bend in the river where I hooked a nice size trout in front of two trees that were lying down across the water.
I though that I saw a larger shadow so I tossed my spinner on the other side and hooked a nice 14? 1 ½ lb brown.
Now that was good for the size of the hole I was fishing but I remembered the phrase; fish where you lease expect fish,
so I wanted to try in between those two trees and I could not cast there cause I was afraid that I would get snagged and scare any fish that might be laying there. I had to wade up close to the trees and just flick my lure into the spot I wanted using only about 3 feet of line. The spotBam
it was hit by a large fish that I wasn?t really expecting. I could tell right away that this was the biggest Brown trout I have ever hooked into but for next four minutes I didn?t think I was going to land him for these reasons, I didn?t have my best rod
with me, I left that in a buddy?s truck after my last outing. This reel
was squeaking really badly and the line
wasn?t the best, I was using a barbless
hook (I lost a lot of bigger trout who shake this off), I was using the new Fastach
clip swivel size 0 (very small and didn?t think it was strong enough) that I was trying out for a new gear review and those darn trees
he kept going into. This was all going through my mind as I fought to land him and after a struggle I finally did at 10: 25: 57
but who?s keeping time.Wow
, what a nice Brown, he measured 18? and a 5? girth, I estimate that it had to weigh 21/2 to 3 lbs. my largest Brown to date. Goes to show you to never give up on those unexpected spots that might hold fish. It was a great Fathers day gif">
Happy Fathers day BruceI hope you enjoyed this blog as much as I enjoyed landing those trout. I will have the video out later.FISH-ON! Cookster
