The Ladies of the LBAA Finish on Lake Neely Henry
With a limit of 5 bass each day, Pam Martin-Wells passed the day 1 leader, Lisa Johnson to take the win with a total tournament weight of 20.66 lbs. Lisa Johnson moved to second place with 12.95 and Kim Bain-Moore finished the top 3 with 9.68 lbs. On the Co-Angler side, Diane Uebelhack from Mt. Vernon, Indiana fished aggressively against Linda Sands to take the top spot. Diane finished the tournament with a total weight of 5.91 lbs.
The ladies of the LBAA wrapped up day 2 after facing some of the toughest fishing conditions imaginable. The weather was cold throughout the practice and the first day of the tournament at Gadsden Alabama. However Day 2 at Lake Neely Henry did bring some warmer temperatures later in the day. After almost two consecutive weeks of rain, snow and wind the warmer temperatures were welcomed as the anglers hoped the bass would bite in the cold muddy water, and although there was more bass activity the weights were far less than Lake Neely Henry is known for. Several anglers reported catching small fish that did not meet the required length to weigh in.
Even with the disappointments of low weights and adverse weather conditions the ladies proved to be true professionals. Their dedication, passion and skill were impressive. The atmosphere of the event was amazing as the women of the LBAA, pros as well as the co-anglers, displayed dedication, honor and respect toward one another like no other competitive sport. The event was only the first this season but as a joint effort between the LBAA and Southern Sports Group the rest of the tour promises to be fun and exciting as more sponsors and ladies sign up as boaters and co-anglers across the country to take part in these events.
