The Battle of Two Trout Ninjas
I have the pleasure of fishing with my two best friends regularly. Jeff Smith, Lee Padrick and myself have been hanging out for 20+ years. This year Jeff and Lee decided to compete in the 5th annual Chasin Tails Outdoors Trout Tournament . Chasin Tails store at Atlantic Beach, North Carolina is a friendly family oriented tackle shop that specializes in inshore fishing. This years trout tournament has over 50 participants and draws the attention of the tight knit inshore community.
After paying their entry fees and waiting the mandatory 5 day waiting period before weighing in a fish. Lee and Jeff decided to ignore the field and try to beat each other. tournament rules allows only one of your entered fish to count.Lee threw the first punch and put a 3 lber on the board but Jeff quickly countered with a 3.5 lber. Lee didn't flinch a threw a haymaker at Jeff with a 4.91 lb beautiful trout and taking the lead in the tournament.
Jeff was rocked but recovered and threw his own attempt at a knockout punch two weeks later with a 5.4 lb gator trout. The current 1st place trout in the tournament.
The tournament ends on December the 31st. With only 35 days remaining, I believe that one more upgrade is possible but who will get it done I'm not sure. I can say it sure has been fun watching and occasionally tagging along.
