Team Fox Wins King Kat Event in Morgantown

This past Saturday June 4th the Cabela?s King Kat Tournament Trail hit the waters of the Monongahela River at Morgantown, West Virginia at the Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront Park where anglers from 6 different states were competing not only for cash and prizes, but the opportunity to qualify for the 2011 Cabela?s King Kat Classic. This year's Cabela?s King Kat Classic will be held on the Mississippi River at Burlington, Iowa October 27-28-29, 2011.

Results for the Top 5 Teams
Taking first place was the team of Janet and James Fox of McArthur, Ohio with a commanding lead of 35.35 pounds and earning $2,500.00. Janet and James were fishing six miles downstream from the weigh in site in 12-15 feet of water using cut skip jack heads and catching 7 fish for the day. Each team is allowed to weigh in their top 5 fish for the day. The team also captured big fish of the event with a 12.75 pound cat which put them over the edge to win the event. To top it off the team also won the Monster Rod Holder award giving them an additional $700.00 for big fish and the Monster Rod Holder award.
2nd Place: Willie Smith and Drew BennerKing Kat
In second place was the Frankfort, Ohio team of Willie Smith and Drew Benner with a total weight of 23.45 pounds and earning $1,200. Willie and Drew were fishing from the lower dam to the pool at the weigh in site working in 28 feet of water using shad as bait to catch 25 fish for the day.
Third place went to Todd Anderson of Mason, West Virginia and Keith Sayre of Hartford, West Virginia with a weight of 22.75 pounds and earning $500.00. Todd and Keith were fishing near the Star City Boat Ramp in 18-20 feet of water using skip jack as bait to catch a total of 12 fish for the day.
The Jackson, Ohio team of Criss and Phyllis Sexton took fourth place with a weight of 21.4 pounds and earning $300.00. Criss and Phyllis were fishing the lower dam near the weigh in site in 15-20 feet of water to catch 10 fish for the day.
Fifth place went to the team of Carl Morris of Johnstown, Ohio and Sean Martin of Blacklick, Ohio with a total weight of 17.25 pounds.
"We would like to thank the Greater Morgantown CVB, Longview Power, and West Virginia DNR for their support and help with the event which had 50 anglers from 6 different states fishing the event", said Tournament Director Tanner Tabor.
The Cabela's Kids Fishing Rodeo was a success with 82 kids and all receiving rods and reels from Cabela's Wheeling West Virginia Store. Longview Power also provided food and t-shirts to all the kids, which was greatly appreciated by all.
