Take Your Kids Fishing!
One of my earliest memories of a family outing was going fishing with my parents. I guess when you're three or four, feeling a pull on the line is pretty memorable, and catching your own fish makes you feel like a big boy! When I had my own son, I made sure I took him fishing when he was old enough to hold his own rod - I still had to bait his hook, but he could get a lot of mileage out of one worm!

I can't think of a better way to bond with your kids than in an outside activity like fishing - out in the fresh air, learning about nature. Every kid likes to ride in a boat, but even from shore, catching fish can be exciting; like opening a present you never know what you're going to get!

Even my too-cool 12 year old can't help but get excited when he gets a fish on the line, and at the cottage he's always the first one with a line in the water and the last to leave the dock.

I'm busy researching bass-fishing locations in the near south for a March break fishing trip for me and my son; I would like to give him a trip he will remember, as well as giving me my early year bass fix! Even if he doesn't catch the fishing bug like I have, I hope he will have an appreciation for the great outdoors we have available to us in Ontario and in Canada.

Happy family fishing!
