Southeast Florida - Week 1 Report ? June 2012

Offshore on the troll, kingfish, dorado, wahoo, cobia and black fin tuna were in 90-270 feet. The dorado bite goes out past the 50 line with plenty of weed lines. Skirted/bare ballyhoo, strip baits and aritificials produced good results. Sailfish were in 120- 210 feet with live baits being their favorite. The swordfish bite was consistent on the daytime bite and darkside

On the reefs and wrecks, in 70-140 feet, yellowtail, vermillion and mutton snapper, kingfish, grouper and cobia were taking pilchards, sardines, and cut baits.

Near shore, along the beaches, piers, inlets and Intracoastal Waterway, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, blue runners, and snappers were along the beaches and around the piers. In the Intracoastal the snook bite is steady around docks and bridges as well as along the beaches. Tarpon were in the inlets with the morning bite producing the best results. Bait continues to be plentiful throughout the area.

In freshwater, the bass bite is good. Live shiners, top water lures, spinner baits and aritficials produce the best results outside of the grass edge.
