Second annual Bass Tournament for Wounded Heroes
Warrenton, VA-Forty to 60 wounded heroes and their families will take part in the Second Annual Wounded Heroes Spring Bass Challenge on Saturday, May 15 at Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge, Virginia. The event is a Paralyzed Veterans of America-Outdoor Recreation Heritage Fund event, organized by local pro angler, Ken Kirk.
"The 'Big Fish' format tournament is put together to say thanks to our servicemen and -women and their families. We and our sponsors have organized a day of fishing and other activities that will be fun for the whole family," said Kirk. Each wounded hero will be paired with a boat captain and an event sponsor.Boat registration kicks off at 5:00 AM, with "Hero and Sponsor" registration at 6:00. Fishing starts at 8:00, with weigh-in and lunch scheduled for 2:00 PM. The awards will be presented at 3:00. Veterans wishing to fish the tournament must pre-register.
"Everything for the event is ready," Kirk said. "We're looking forward to another great event. Our sponsors have continued the outpouring of support for our troops, in spite of the tough economy."Spectators are welcome to come out and show their support for the wounded heroes and get to know the vets, their families, the sponsors and the boat captains who are involved.
