Pilot II Guide Series Jacket, Bib & Co-Pilot Zip-In Liner

Frogg Toggs blends style and functionality with their Pilot II Guide Series

This year I was fortunate to have the opportunity to review a brand that I have used in the past and was pleased with, but never viewed as “stylish.” Well, Frogg Toggs has come a long way, adding style to their functional products. The new Pilot II Guide Jacket and Bibs are some of their durable and reliable new products.

The Pilot II Guide Jacket is constructed with Dripore 2nd generation material with a Teflon DWR coating. Dripore is a synthetic material that is lightweight, breathable and durable. The jacket features a vented and removable hood that can store into the collar of the jacket. The waist of the jacket is adjustable by using a shock cord. All of the zippers used on the jacket are water-resistant and all seams are fully taped for keeping water out. There are plenty of water-proof pockets for easy storage. The inside pockets on the jacket are great to protect your phone. They might even be large enough to store a sandwich, even though you wouldn’t do that … but then again?

The Guide Series Bibs are made from a 3-layer submersible material. They feature roomy, expandable cargo pockets on the sides. Waterproof zippers on each side of the legs make these bibs easy to take on and off. A Velcro adjustable strap on each leg cuff holds well and hasn’t come loose. D-loops on both the jacket and bibs provide areas to hang needed items. The straps are easy to adjust to a comfortable fit and are very forgiving. The bibs are moderately priced at $149.99.

I have been very impressed by the fit, durability and functionality of the jacket and bibs. I have had bibs that don’t fit well and are unbearable to wear on my kayak. They come in 5 dual colors plus additional camo patterns. I selected the High Visible Green/Grey for visibility out on the kayak. As an add-on option for the Pilot II Guide Series you can purchase a liner called the Co-Pilot Insulated Puff Vest for extra warmth. I can’t say enough about the quality and fit of these Frogg Toggs products. I am glad to have been reunited with a great brand. One thing that impressed me was not only does this series keep you dry but you don’t sweat to death in them. They allow for breathability even when it begins to warm up in the mid-day.
