Orillia Perch Festival

Orillia Perch Festival
Orillia Perch Festival
Today I would like to address the Orillia Perch Festival. Is a derby from April 16th - May 07th and attracts people to Orillia from all over North America, to arguably the best Perch lake in the world. Every year after ice out millions of perch some weighing in at well over two pounds come to Lake Couchiching and the Orillia end of Lake Simcoe. The object of the Derby is to catch at least one fish each day (not hard by any means) and bring it back to the live release tank located in Tudhope Park, and get a ballot filled out. Each ballot will be added to a draw at the end of the Derby to win prizes such as a boat, or fishing canoe, as well as hundreds of smaller prizes. But the main reason that most people join the Derby is for the over 60 tagged perch worth $500 and two bonus perch worth $3000 dollars.

The Opening Ceremonies are at ODAS Park on April 15th
OPP Kids Day are at Tudhope Park on April 30th
Closing Ceremonies are at ODAS Park on May 7th

I hope to see you their this year. It's a Derby I've been takeing part in for over six years and I'm doing it again. I can tell you it's great fun for all ages.
