Quebec walleye pro Dan Robitaille
It?s official, the rumours are true! 2011 will see a brand new, professional walleye fishing competition poised to be the most anticipated event ever. The Princecraft Canadian Walleye Open, presented by Thomas Marine Group and powered by Mercury is set to take place on June 4 & 5, 2011 in Sorel, Quebec, Canada. 150 teams of two anglers are estimated to gather on the waters of Lake St-Pierre to battle it out for over $40,000 in cash and prizes as well as the ultimate bragging rights. The Princecraft Open sets out to crown Canada?s best walleye anglers but the competition will be fierce, as the best names in the business, spanning from Ontario and Quebec and perhaps even the USA will be there to duke it out.
?The walleye market has been anxiously awaiting an event such as this.? states Ben Woo, President, Princecraft Open. ?Walleye fishing has and always will be an integral part of the Canadian fabric, but the Princecraft Open will take it to an entirely new level of excitement, challenge and stature.?
With an extensive history and track record in the events promotions and productions segment, most notably the recent production of the Berkley B1 Canadian Bass Open, Woo plans to breathe new life into the sport fishing market by introducing proven successful elements borrowed from his experience. With an exclusive television deal with RDS, Quebec?s leading sport channel in place, the Princecraft Open will be reaching tens of thousands of Quebec households.
?Princecraft is extremely excited to be the title sponsor of this new and highly anticipated event. ? states Jean-Philippe Martin-Dubois, Marketing Director, Princecraft Boats. ?When the opportunity of joining forces with Ben and Thomas Marine Group to produce a premiere walleye competition of this calibre was presented, we knew we had to take the lead. Walleye anglers are a core client for us and we intend to keep it that way by supporting important efforts such as this.?
The region of Sorel-Tracy has long been known for being a hotspot for walleye enthusiasts. With its geographical location being the intersection of where both the St-Lawrence River and the Richelieu River meet to become Lake St-Pierre, regarded by many as the top walleye body of water in the area, the Princecraft Open will be a true showcase of the fishery and the quality fish it produces. Thomas Marine Group, Canada?s top reseller of Princecraft boats, has a total of four locations in Quebec, one of them conveniently located in Sorel. ?The St-Lawrence River and Lake St-Pierre are our backyard and our clients are some of the most passionate walleye anglers out there.? claims Marc-André Thomas, Vice-President, Thomas Marine Group. ?We intend to fuel our customers? passion by helping to provide what we believe will be the premiere event of its genre.?
The official Angler Package will be made available by March 5th and for $300 per team, registration is set to open on Saturday, March 12th at 8am sharp. Many more announcements, details and news to follow in the coming weeks. Canadian walleye anglers rejoice! There?s a brand new playground to play in.
