New Fixed-Blade Broadheads for 2021

There are plenty of bowhunters who opt for the dependability of fixed-blade designs.

New Fixed-Blade Broadheads for 2021

While much of the ATA Show excitement each year centers around new bows and crossbows, it's the business end of an arrow that often determines the outcome of a shot.

Meaning that for all of the time, research, and money you spend in buying a new arrow slinger this year, put some extra thought into the broadheads that you'll purchase, a vital piece of equipment that will make everything happen as it zips through a buck or bull boiler room.

While many archers today rely on the expanding lineup of mechanical blade offerings, there are still plenty of bowhunters who opt for the dependability of fixed-blade designs.

Here’s a look at some of what's new this year in the fixed-blade market, all coming to a bow pro shop or retail dealer near you sometime in the next several weeks

G5 Montec M3

G5 Montec M3

I remember the first time I was introduced to the G5 Montec lineup in a spring bear camp in Canada. Dave Price, Jr., who has gone on to become one of my best bowhunting friends, said "Here, try this – it's one of the best broadheads I've ever shot." A few shots later on the practice range, I understand why he felt that way. This year, there's even more reason to love the super-sharp lineup from G5 as the well-known broadhead maker brings to market the Montec M3.

A solid stainless steel design that features more Rockwell hardness than other versions of this line of broadheads, this single-piece head comes in 100- and 125-grain options. Coming non-vented, the regular version and the crossbow version will fly downrange silently and accurately, hitting a buck's boiler room or a tiny 10-ring on the 3-D range thanks to the Ballistically Matched Point (BMP) practice heads that these broadheads come with.

Truglo Titanium X Precision Broadheads

Truglo Titanium X Precision Broadheads

Operating under the concept of better metal makes for a better broadhead, the new Quadcutter from TRUGLO’s Titanium X Precision Broadheads lineup is sure to take down some bruiser bucks and bulls in 2021. Using a CNC-machine grade-5 titanium ferrule and precision sharpened surgical stainless steel blades, this broadhead aims to help bowhunters achieve better durability, superior accuracy, lots of meat in the freezer and plenty of head bone heading for the taxidermist’s shop. Featuring the X-Lock Blade System (including replacement blades), the Quadcutter checks in at 100-grains and has a 1 3/16 cutting diameter, more than enough to get the job done next fall.

Truglo Titanium Precision Broadheads X Large Game

Truglo Titanium Precision Broadheads X Large Game

If big game bowhunting for elk, moose, caribou, bears, or monster Midwestern or Canadian whitetails is on your calendar in 2021, you’ll love the new Titanium Precision X Large Game broadhead from Truglo. Engineered to fly accurately downrange and power through the thickest hide and bone in the woods and on the mountainside, this 2-blade broadhead design has a one-piece ferrule and is chiseled from titanium. With a four-edged tip that is larger in diameter than the ferrule, the aim of Truglo’s engineers is to create a frictionless path for the arrow to follow behind as it blows through a buck or bull’s boiler room. Coming with a cutting diameter of 1 3/16-inches and a pair of different-sized locking collars, hunters can thread these heads onto standard-diameter arrows for compound bows and larger-diameter bolts for crossbows. The end result is a tough and accurate design that leads to short blood trails, filled freezers, and big taxidermy bills.

Great broadhead flight and devastating downrange results are some of the goals of Slick Trick's new SS3 broadhead, which comes in an aerodynamic, single-piece stainless steel ferrule design. Starting with a 100-grain, 3-blade configuration, the 416 stainless steel broadhead is non-vented so that it can fly downrange silently, deliver plenty of power at impact, and produce a sizable cutting diameter that leaves an easy to follow blood trail after the whitetail or elk woods fall silent again.
