For landscape designer Doug Scott, who operates the Atlanta-based Redeem Your Ground, a prime way for homeowners to increase curb appeal is through a process that seems pro-level at first glance but is not.
In fact, it's the perfect Done-In-A-Weekend Project, the idea of mowing your yard like a pro and striping it to look like a well-manicured PGA golf course or Major League Baseball field.
"If you're a homeowner who already has a nice lawn but are looking to take its appearance up (to) the next level, lawn striping is a sure-fire way of making that happen," said Scott.
For the how-to portion of getting that project done, Scott turned to Brian Latimer for the answer.
Latimer is widely known as a South Carolina bass angling expert with several years’ worth of experience on the FLW Tour and now the Bassmaster Opens Series. That experience includes more than 100 tournaments fished; a $102,000 FLW Pro Circuit win in 2019 on Florida’s Lake Seminole; an appearance in the FLW Forrest Wood Cup championship event; and a widely watched YouTube channel with more than 6.8 million views.
As one of the nation's best practitioners in coaxing bass to strike a lure, Latimer clearly understands vegetation where bass might live, a fact that has helped produce more than 83,000 subscribers to his YouTube angling channel.
But what many of his fishing fans may or may not know is that he's also a landscape industry expert. With a number of years working in a family landscaping business along with a horticulture degree, Latimer also knows vegetation out of the water too.
So, when Scott posed the question of how a weekend do-it-yourselfer can get that pro-level look in lawn care with striping, Latimer had plenty of great advice.
