Measuring only 5-by-4-by-1 inches, the Micro Jig Box and its brother, the 9-by-7-by-2-inch Big Jig Box, grabbed my attention along with the rest of the GRUV Fishing boxes at the 2017 ICAST in Orlando, Florida. If you’ve read any of my gear reviews, it’s no surprise that I love unique and one-of-a-kind functional products and these jig boxes meet those requirements.

If you are a hard water angler that has been fishing for a long time, I’m sure you’ve tried many different types of containers to hold your jigs. If you’ve experienced damaged and tangled baits or total disorganization of your jigs, this is where GRUV Fishing jumps in. As stated on their website, “We were tired of our old tackle boxes and we set out to create the better way”. GRUV started in the winter of 2016 utilizing a patent-pending technology from Tacky Fly Fishing. Using this patent-pending silicone, they have managed to design and continue to create and produce silicone anchoring systems.

Both jig boxes are made of a polycarbonate shell and have been tested in subzero temperatures and high temperatures without any issues. The clear lid provides full view of all jigs in the box and the patent-pending slit silicone anchoring system holds the jigs firmly in place. Even after dropping it, the jigs will not come out but allow for easy access when you need one. The anchoring system is removable for easy clean-up. With no latches to fail or break, the Neodymium magnetic closure system really provides strong closure of the lid without the issues of latches.
The Micro has the capacity of up to 68 jigs and the Big Jig Box has the capacity of 115 jigs depending on their size. The box itself weighs only 4.2 ounces for the micro and 20 ounces for the Big Jig Box. Mike, who reviewed the Micro mentioned how compact it was, how it fit well in his pocket, and how it could store assorted size jigs. He especially liked the magnetic lid catch system and was very impressed by how well it secured the jigs in the box. Overall, he said he would refer anyone to this jig container. In fact, I am seeing more and more interest springing up on social media over GRUV Fishing as well.
