Marilyn's Sweet Bread (Recipe)

Ingredients & Directions:
- 1/2 TBS of white sugar
- 1 pkg of active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup of warm water
Mix these ingredients together in a non-reactive small bowl and set aside for yeast to develop.
- 1 cup of milk, scalded
- 1/4 cup of Crisco
Add these two ingredients together until Crisco is melted. Then add:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
Stir together until dissolved. Then whisk in:
- 2 eggs and the developed yeast mixture.
Then add:
On a lightly floured surface, knead dough 5-7 minutes or until smooth and satiny. Lightly butter a glass bowl and put dough in the bowl - also lightly butter the top.
Cover with a damp towel and let rise in a warm area until it has doubled in size. Punch dough down and form into a two loaves (seam side down) or rolls and place again in a well buttered bread pan. Cover and let rise again for 1 to 1/2 hours.
PREHEAT oven to 375 degrees.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until top of the bread is a deep golden brown. Remove from the oven and brush tops with butter. There you have it. You will receive more requests for this homemade bread recipe...
