Light Jigs for Big Bass

Light Jigs for Big Bass
As many of you know a jig is one of the best baits to get big bass. It can resemble so many things including a  crayfish, a shad and a bluegill.  Something you might have heard of is the weightless jig, which is exactly what it sounds like.  A jig that is made with a composite head to give the look of a normal jig but  has very very little weight to it .  Two companies come to mind in the weightless jig department, Custom Lures Unlimited and Pure Poison Jigs. These companies both offer jigs that have a fall rate of one foot every 3 seconds and one foot every five seconds respectively.  These jigs are worth looking into especially if you want to 1) offer the bass something they haven't seen before, 2) fish an area with a muddy or soft bottom and 3) use a jig as a swim jig or head for a swim bait.  The density of the soft plastic you use will change the rate of fall so be ready to experiment and be ready for some hard hitting action!
