PUEBLO, Colo. – Join Lake Pueblo State Park and the Southern Colorado Astronomical Society for an evening of Stargazing on Saturday, July 30. Telescopes will be set up at Arkansas Point Campground starting at 5 p.m. Solar telescopes will be available until sunset and night time viewing will begin around 9 p.m. Astronomers will be available to answer questions and help you navigate the night skies.
The star gazing event is free but a valid parks pass is required on all vehicles entering the park.
The star gazing is the final event of a space and rocket filled day at the Hudson Ranch, located 9.5. miles southwest of Pueblo on Highway 78, starting at 9 a.m. The space and rocket events are sponsored by the United Launch Alliance, Ball Aerospace and the Southern Colorado Rocketeers. Student interns at the United Launch Alliance and Ball Aerospace will launch a variety of civilian-class rockets, ranging in size and power from a standard hobbyist size to an enormous 20-ft. tall rockets that reach altitudes of more than 15,000 feet. The rockets will carry payloads from Colorado universities and high schools.

The Southern Colorado Rocketeers will also provide member rockets during the launch, making certain there is never a dull moment from countdown from liftoff to recovery. The public is invited to join in this exciting day of rocketry as future rocket engineers put their designs to the test and students learn valuable lessons.
