Lake Chickamauga Preparing for Walmart BFL
The Walmart Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Chickamauga June 4 for the fourth of five stops in the Volunteer Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards up to $9,500 and $3,000, respectively.
"Anglers will be able to catch bass anyway they want," said Walmart pro Wesley Strader of Spring City, Tenn. "They can catch them shallow or with topwater but the tournament is going to be won deep, 20 feet or more.
"I would use big worms, big crankbaits like the DT16 or DT20, football jigs or any Zoom product," Strader added. "The fish are going to be schooling now so anglers should look for the largest schooling fish they can find. They are there; you just have to find them. It is going to take 23 to 25 pounds to win."
Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Dayton boat Dock located at 175 Lakeshore Drive in Dayton. Takeoff is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing - the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
