Kansas Angler Wins ABA Tournament
American Bass Anglers Division 126 held a qualifying tournament on Stockton Lake this past weekend, and despite rain, strong winds, and thunder in the afternoon, all anglers weighed in fish.
In the end, Glenn Harriosn of Arma, KS brought in a bag of fish weighing 16.59 pounds to take first place. The bag was anchored by the Big Fish of the tournament, a 5.61-pound largemouth bass. Harrison reported fishing in the mid lake and used a Carolina rig most of the day. He took home $648 for his efforts.
Bryan Jackson took second place with five fish that weighed 11 pounds, while MarkMoody place third with 10.48. Carl Cox, Becky Minor, and Eric Craft filledthe next three places with 10.45, 10.04, and 10.01 pounds, respectively.
It was reported by some that the fish bit on pretty much anything thrown out there. Baits reported included spinnerbaits, crank baits, Zora Spook, fat grub, and lizards on a Carolina rig.
Anglers compete for cash, prizes and points which qualify them to fish a two-day Championship on Stockton, August 18-19, 2012 and a National Championship on Grand Lake of the Cherokees October 24-26, 2012.
ABA was designed for the weekend angler and is open to boaters and non-boaters. It is a draw format with partner pairing taking place the morning of the tournament. Anglers from age 14 and up can enter ABA tournaments. Call Becky with any questions: 620 21-2935.
