Roughly two years ago, Tactacam launched its Reveal X 2.0 and Reveal X-Pro cellular trail cameras. Since then, those trail cams have been wildly successful and very effective for hunters.
Building upon those success, Tactcam has unveiled its third-generation cameras in the form of the new Reveal X 3.0 and Reveal Pro 3.0. Launched July 1, the new cameras offer new features and improved overall performance in photo and video quality, battery life, ease of use, reliability and durability.
Both new 3.0 trail cameras include GPS, built-in storage with optional removable SD slot, faster send capabilities than previous models, fewer false triggers, new aspect ratios, live app aiming, a pre-installed antenna, an integrated multi-carrier SIM Card, auto carrier selection and over-the-air firmware updates. The built-in GPS lets you track the camera, so you’ll always know where it is and if it has been moved.

The integrated multi-carrier SIM card means the cameras will have connectivity in even more areas with fewer “dead zones” without a signal. And the cameras will automatically connect to the strongest cellular network.

The new pre-installed antenna design for both cameras is based on feedback from earlier camera models and provides a more durable and efficient option. The camera itself will actually transmit with the antenna in the flipped-down stored position and a removable attachment keeps it firmly in place when stored. However, for those who do want the antenna pointed up, the new design bends to help prevent damage caused by critters or careless handling.

The Reveal Pro 3.0, meanwhile, features a no-glow infrared flash, five-photo multi-shot capabilities, an on-demand HD video request option and a 2-inch LCD screen. Both feature 1080p FHD video and can capture 10, 15 or 30 seconds of video. The Reveal X 3.0’s low-glow IR flash is suitable for most nighttime image captures; however, it does emit a little bit of red light, which some predators can detect, and which may spook some deer at close ranges. The Reveal Pro 3.0’s no-glow IR flash, meanwhile, is virtually undetectable to humans or animals, day or night.
The new Tactacam Reveal X 3.0 has a listed price of $119.99, whereas the Reveal Pro 3.0 is listed at $149.99. Take a look at a list of some of the key features for each camera below, and stay tuned for more on the Reveal Pro 3.0, as I recently received a sample, which I’ll put to use this summer and fall.
