October is here, so let's stop waiting for November, or the rut, and go slap our tags on some antlers. Sure, the initial onset of October can be tough, but persistence and patience, coupled with the months of recon you've done leading up to this point, will pay dividends in the end. So, this week on The Revolution, outdoor icon, Michael Waddell of Michael Waddell's Bone Collector, joins Jim and Trav and he's taking over the entire broadcast! From start to finish, we'll dish nothing but deer hunting know-how: scouting, calling, decoying, the use of scents, shot placement, field dressing, processing and more. Plus, we'll talk about #DeerWeek that's happening on both Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel. For seven days beginning October 15, 2017 – nothing but the best deer hunting related programming will begin airing at 7 p.m. ET each night. The Revolution and our discussion of deer domination, is presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, World Fishing Network and MyOutdoorTV.

Fall is here and it’s high time we head to the woods in search of an October monster buck. Don’t let the fabled “October Lull” deter you, now is the time to dig in, put some miles on your boots and fill those tags. Michael Waddell is one of the hunting industry’s foremost pros and he’s taking over this week, talking deer hunting for the entire hour. Michael says, for him, deer hunting has a nostalgia rooted in family, friends and the feeling of fall. He tells Jim and Trav that some have tried to make hunting a pursuit for only the elite or the athletic – however that couldn’t be farther from the truth. He emphasizes that hunting is all inclusive, it’s for everyone, and above all else – it should be fun.

Listen in as Michael discusses the effectiveness and proven lethality of a well-timed grunt or snort wheeze, as well as the right time to use rattling to your advantage. If you are hunting a new piece of land, Michael says he falls back on advice he received long ago. He looks to CRP fields and double corners for a perch to scout from. When using that tactic in conjunction with decoys and calls, Michael says you can create a perfect setup for identifying and ambushing incoming bucks. Stay tuned as Michael tackles the importance of shot placement, as well as knowing and understanding the anatomy of deer so you can better judge how lethal your shot will be. Finally, Michael will wrap up with a discussion about fair chase hunting. He stresses the importance of being authentic and truthful about the way you choose to hunt. Michael says there is nothing wrong with hunting high fence properties or using baits – where legal – as long as you’re honest about it. Don’t miss this in-depth conversation with the Bone Collector himself, Michael Waddell, this week on The Revolution.

If you’ve already got a case of deer fever, then a prescription for non-stop deer hunting action might just be exactly what you need! Tune in as Michael Waddell discusses #DeerWeek brought to you by Cabela’s, set to air beginning Sunday, October 15 at 7 p.m. ET through Saturday, October 21. Watch both Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel during these seven nights for deer-centric programming that will be hosted by Michael Waddell and Tom McMillan. Listen in as Michael talks about the mini-marathon featuring the best deer hunts from Bone Collector, as well as other great programming you won’t want to miss. Find out more at www.DeerWeek.com.
