David Blanton Visits Young Cancer Patient
You may know David Blanton from such Realtree television shows such as Realtree Outdoors and Bill Jordan's Realtree Monster Bucks. Until recently, young cancer patient Chip Madren's relationship with David Blanton only existed through those shows. That all changed recently, however, when David Blanton stopped by the Madren family home in Atlanta, Georgia, to meet this young man who is battling cancer.

After surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, young Chip, only 13 years old, is left tired, but he still pushes hard in his physical therapy. The therapist uses one of Chip's duck hunting calls to motivate him. Chip is an avid outdoor enthusiast, and along with the duck call, camouflage decorates his room and a deer head is mounted on his bedroom wall. Chip's heroes are the outdoorsmen and women of Outdoor Channel, and one of his biggest heroes is David Blanton. David paid young Chip a visit recently and hung out with him at the Madren home. They talked hunting, future hunting trips, and Blanton even presented Chip with a gift - a deer head mounted from one of Blanton's Texas hunting trips.

The trip left everyone smiling, providing a needed respite from the tough journey young Chip is currently on.
